President

It is with huge honour that I take up my role as President of OUBC for the 2011 boat race against Cambridge. Having dabbled in the sport for 10 years now, I have always seen OUBC as one of the most prestigious rowing clubs to be part of, becoming it's President means a lot to me. OUBC has defined my university experience and I know that the result of both the Boat Race and the Isis vs. Goldie race will shape my memories of Oxford greatly, it is with this in mind that I intend on doing all I can to help OUBC produce two winning crews on boat race day.

The boat race is clearly an amazing event and I feel some sense of gratitude towards it's history that has propelled it to what it is today. Along with the knowledge that a highly motivated opposition awaits on race day, I hope we can use these circumstances to eek every last inch from our athletes throughout the year and produce crews determined to turn the tables from last year's results.

I look forward to working with all those involved in the boat club and am grateful that OUBC has an outstanding coaching team comprised of Sean Bowden as head coach and solidly backed by by Andy Nelder as assistant coach, as well as a committed support team and committee.

Most importantly though, I look forward to welcoming new and returning athletes to the boat club and getting down to the arduous and unglamorous business that is rowing, which somehow always seems worth it at the end of a season!
