Appointment of Harry Brightmore as Assistant Coach Oxford University Boat Club (“OUBC”)

Updated: Jul 18

The OUBC are delighted to announce the appointment of Harry Brightmore as Assistant Coach across both our men’s and women’s programmes.

Harry brings a wealth of experience as a double European and World Champion cox of the British men’s eight, six-time Henley Royal Regatta winner and five-time Head of the River Race winner.

Harry joins the OUBC following 11 years within high performance programmes at GB Rowing and Oxford Brookes University and he will be using this experience as a coach across all of our open, lightweight and development crews.

The OUBC Committee, coaches and athletes are really excited that Harry has joined the OUBC coaching team. His world class pedigree speaks for itself and he brings a passion and dedication that is contagious. Harry has been a key contributor to British high performance rowing for many years and he will bring all that experience combined with expert communication skills to his work at Oxford. Harry’s energy and knowledge will undoubtedly be a huge addition to the OUBC and we look forward to having him involved full-time after the Paris Olympics.

Robin Bourne-Taylor - Interim COO

It’s a true honour to be welcomed into the Oxford University Boat Club. The Boat Race is such a special event and the chance to help all the teams prepare for it is a challenge that seriously excites me. I can’t wait.

Harry Brightmore

The OUBC wish Harry the best of luck in the final preparations for Paris.
